The Center for School Nutrition Health Movement (SNHM) in Indonesia, in collaboration with the UNESCO Chair Global Health & Education, develops and implements a new health nutrition curriculum in Indonesia. The project supports Health Promoting School for elementary students in Muhammadiyah schools in Indonesia. The University initiated the development and implementation of a health nutrition curriculum for elementary children as education of healthy behavioral habits should be started early and being integrated into the school curriculum.
After 2 years conducting research on the development nutrition-health modules for grades 1-6 supported by a BIMA research grant from the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, this year in 2025, the center is implementing the modules in the selected schools. Capacity building of teachers and school committee members conveyed by health professionals (nutritionist, physiotherapist, dentist, and sanitarian) related to the materials in the module is the initial stage to ensure the success of the modules implementation. Providing teachers with good tools and knowledge are expected to increase teachers’ self-confidence in transferring accurate nutrition health messages in class. The research is still ongoing in the next semester which will be evaluated in the future. A training of teachers took place on 30 June 2025, with a short video message from the UNESCO Chair GHE.
