{"id":5931,"date":"2022-11-28T12:57:10","date_gmt":"2022-11-28T11:57:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unescochair-ghe.org\/?p=5931"},"modified":"2022-11-28T12:59:46","modified_gmt":"2022-11-28T11:59:46","slug":"whole-school-whole-community-whole-child-and-the-whole-culture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unescochair-ghe.org\/fa\/whole-school-whole-community-whole-child-and-the-whole-culture\/","title":{"rendered":"Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child, and the Whole Culture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 2014 the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child Model (WSCC) \u2013 a collaboration between the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and ASCD \u2013 was launched. It was a response to the \u201ccall for greater alignment, integration, and collaboration between education and health to improve each child\u2019s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development.\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/files.ascd.org\/staticfiles\/ascd\/pdf\/siteASCD\/publications\/wholechild\/wscc-a-collaborative-approach.pdf\">ASCD, 2014, p. 6<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the following years the model has become the preeminent school health framework in the U.S. and is used by the vast majority of states, districts, and schools.&nbsp;And while the use and expansion of this model has grown over the years there was still something missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">School\u2019s culture<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A school\u2019s culture &#8211; resulting from the school\u2019s climate, the actions, interactions of everyone in that environment &#8211; plays a very large role in the success or failure of any new initiative. Culture is influenced by everyone inside the school but if there is one role or one group that has a huge influence it\u2019s the principal, the school leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By focusing attention towards the school leader we prepare them with the skills and mindsets to implement change and to enhance their influence across the school community.
