It operates at the intersection of multiple practices, driven by a diverse range of actors, and draws on various forms of knowledge – scientific, professional and experiential.

Bringing together contributions from 24 authors from 7 countries and 3 continents, the book Health Promotion Today: Social Practices and Knowledge Sharing offers a collective exploration of these dynamics. Combining critical analyses, field experiences and interdisciplinary perspectives, it highlights the richness of social practices, whilst examining inequalities, power relations and the conditions under which knowledge circulates and is legitimised. Spanning social justice, the ecology of knowledge and systems transformation, it opens up new perspectives for envisioning health for all.

This webinar will provide an opportunity for the book’s contributors to exchange views and discuss the defining features of contemporary health promotion practices, as well as the ways in which knowledge is generated and shared. As a keynote speaker at the webinar, Louise Potvin will put these discussions into perspective in light of the epistemological and ethical issues shaping the field.

Our guest

Hélène Kamdem Kamgno is a statistical engineer with a PhD in demography and a specialist in gender, population and development issues.
