{"id":9998,"date":"2026-02-02T18:12:58","date_gmt":"2026-02-02T17:12:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unescochair-ghe.org\/?page_id=9998"},"modified":"2026-02-02T18:14:08","modified_gmt":"2026-02-02T17:14:08","slug":"morocco","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/unescochair-ghe.org\/fa\/the-chairs-community\/national-representatives\/morocco\/","title":{"rendered":"Morocco"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Activities in relation to the UNESCO Chair<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Our work focuses on advancing health promotion across different settings and life stages in Morocco through two main initiatives: developing health promoting schools and strengthening gerontology education, both guided by a One Health perspective that links human, social, and environmental dimensions of health.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>Notre travail vise \u00e0 promouvoir la sant\u00e9 dans diff\u00e9rents contextes et \u00e0 diff\u00e9rentes \u00e9tapes de la vie au Maroc, \u00e0 travers deux initiatives principales : le d\u00e9veloppement d&#8217;\u00e9coles promotrices de sant\u00e9 et le renforcement de l&#8217;enseignement de la g\u00e9rontologie, tous deux guid\u00e9s par une approche \u00ab One Health \u00bb qui relie les dimensions humaines, sociales et environnementales de la sant\u00e9.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Health Promoting Schools<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u00c9coles promotrices de sant\u00e9<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>We are implementing a comprehensive project composed of several sub-projects aimed at developing health promoting schools in Morocco. The overall goal is to empower school communities to foster wellbeing and healthy behaviors in and beyond the classroom.<br>The project adopts a action-research approach, combining implementation with participatory research to design culturally relevant and sustainable strategies. An initial participatory diagnosis was carried out to assess the specific health promotion needs of the school community (publication in progress).<br>Based on these findings, we developed a series of sub-projects, including workshops and a training program for teachers, as well as activities tailored to students and parents. Each sub-project addresses complementary dimensions of health promotion within the school environment, contributing to a coherent and evidence-informed intervention model.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>Nous mettons en \u0153uvre un projet global compos\u00e9 de plusieurs sous-projets visant \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper des \u00e9coles promotrices de sant\u00e9 au Maroc. L&#8217;objectif g\u00e9n\u00e9ral est de donner aux communaut\u00e9s scolaires les moyens de favoriser le bien-\u00eatre et les comportements sains dans et en dehors de la salle de classe.<br>Le projet adopte une approche de recherche-action, combinant la mise en \u0153uvre et la recherche participative afin de concevoir des strat\u00e9gies culturellement pertinentes et durables. Un premier diagnostic participatif a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9 afin d&#8217;\u00e9valuer les besoins sp\u00e9cifiques de la communaut\u00e9 scolaire en mati\u00e8re de promotion de la sant\u00e9 (publication en cours).<br>Sur la base de ces r\u00e9sultats, nous avons d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 une s\u00e9rie de sous-projets, comprenant des ateliers et un programme de formation pour les enseignants, ainsi que des activit\u00e9s adapt\u00e9es aux \u00e9l\u00e8ves et aux parents. Chaque sous-projet aborde des dimensions compl\u00e9mentaires de la promotion de la sant\u00e9 dans l&#8217;environnement scolaire, contribuant ainsi \u00e0 un mod\u00e8le d&#8217;intervention coh\u00e9rent et fond\u00e9 sur des donn\u00e9es probantes.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gerontology Education<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Formation en g\u00e9rontologie<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>We are contributing to the development of gerontology education to better address the needs of Morocco\u2019s rapidly ageing population. By 2050, more than 10 million Moroccans will be aged 60 or older, yet the country has not established a fully developed geriatric specialty or a coordinated research strategy on ageing. To begin addressing this gap, we conducted a scoping review of the literature on ageing in Morocco, published as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michaud S, Raoui K, Mansouri A. <a href=\"https:\/\/rsisinternational.org\/journals\/ijrsi\/articles\/a-scoping-review-of-the-literature-on-ageing-in-morocco-trends-gaps-and-future-directions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">A scoping review of the literature on ageing in Morocco: Trends, gaps, and future directions<\/a>. Int J Res Sci Innov. 2025;12(7):239-251. doi:10.51244\/IJRSI.2025.120700024<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The review highlights the urgent need to expand multidisciplinary research, integrate gerontology into health education, and adopt a holistic approach to ageing. Building on these findings, we investigated the educational needs of health professionals regarding gerontology training (publication in progress). Based on the results, we developed an intervention framework to strengthen the competencies of health professionals and health students, integrating salutogenic and One Health perspectives to support healthy and dignified ageing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>Nous contribuons au d\u00e9veloppement de l&#8217;enseignement de la g\u00e9rontologie afin de mieux r\u00e9pondre aux besoins d&#8217;une population marocaine qui vieillit rapidement. D&#8217;ici 2050, plus de 10 millions de Marocains auront 60 ans ou plus, mais le pays n&#8217;a pas encore mis en place une sp\u00e9cialit\u00e9 g\u00e9riatrique pleinement d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e ni une strat\u00e9gie de recherche coordonn\u00e9e sur le vieillissement.
