Son travail fait le lien entre les efforts nationaux en mati\u00e8re de recherche, de formation des enseignants, d&#8217;\u00e9laboration des programmes scolaires et de politiques publiques, et la vision mondiale de la Chaire.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Gabriela\u2019s contributions reflect a strong commitment to health promotion in schools and the advancement of health literacy through evidence-based, community-sensitive approaches. She has 18 years of teaching experience. In addition she has participated in the evaluation of school-based interventions such as Salud Escolar 2020 (UNICEF-Mexico), and contributed to the co-design regional planning of interventions for Latin America and the Caribbean (UNICEF-LACRO, 2025), which focus on integrating health,&nbsp;education and education for sustainable development agendas to improve the well-being of children and adolescents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her role in curriculum development includes participation in the revision of the Health Sciences subject in upper secondary education at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM for its Spanish abbreviation), and collaboration with Mexico\u2019s Ministry of Public Education on the <em>Vida Saludable <\/em>subject and Teaching Diploma, both part of the national strategy Aprende en Casa during the COVID-19 pandemic. She also contributed to the design of the <em>Healthy and Sustainable Diet Course<\/em> within the <em>Vive saludable, Vive feliz<\/em> national strategy, promoting health education through sustainable food practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gabriela serves on the scientific committee of the Mexican Report Card on Physical Activity in Children and Youth (since 2018), an initiative aligned with the global initiative Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance (Ottawa, Canada). This initiative generates evidence-based assessments of physical activity and sedentary behaviour among Mexican children and youth, informing national policies and programs. She is also actively involved in the development of national guidelines on physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and sleep, and has contributed to the technical foundations of Mexico\u2019s National Acceleration Plan to Halt Obesity (2025\u20132030), particularly in areas related to school environments and health-promoting educational policies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>Les contributions de Gabriela refl\u00e8tent un engagement fort en faveur de la promotion de la sant\u00e9 dans les \u00e9coles et de l&#8217;am\u00e9lioration des connaissances en mati\u00e8re de sant\u00e9 gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des approches fond\u00e9es sur des donn\u00e9es probantes et adapt\u00e9es aux communaut\u00e9s. Elle a 18 ans d&#8217;exp\u00e9rience dans l&#8217;enseignement. En outre, elle a particip\u00e9 \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9valuation d&#8217;interventions en milieu scolaire telles que Salud Escolar 2020 (UNICEF-Mexique) et a contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 la conception conjointe de la planification r\u00e9gionale des interventions pour l&#8217;Am\u00e9rique latine et les Cara\u00efbes (UNICEF-LACRO, 2025), qui visent \u00e0 int\u00e9grer les programmes de sant\u00e9, d&#8217;\u00e9ducation et d&#8217;\u00e9ducation au d\u00e9veloppement durable afin d&#8217;am\u00e9liorer le bien-\u00eatre des enfants et des adolescents.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Son r\u00f4le dans l&#8217;\u00e9laboration des programmes scolaires comprend la participation \u00e0 la r\u00e9vision du programme de sciences de la sant\u00e9 dans l&#8217;enseignement secondaire sup\u00e9rieur \u00e0 l&#8217;Universit\u00e9 nationale autonome du Mexique (UNAM) et la collaboration avec le minist\u00e8re mexicain de l&#8217;\u00c9ducation publique sur le programme Vida Saludable et le dipl\u00f4me d&#8217;enseignement, qui font tous deux partie de la strat\u00e9gie nationale Aprende en Casa mise en place pendant la pand\u00e9mie de COVID-19. Elle a \u00e9galement contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 la conception du cours \u00ab Alimentation saine et durable \u00bb dans le cadre de la strat\u00e9gie nationale \u00ab Vive saludable, Vive feliz \u00bb, qui promeut l&#8217;\u00e9ducation \u00e0 la sant\u00e9 par le biais de pratiques alimentaires durables.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Gabriela si\u00e8ge au comit\u00e9 scientifique du Rapport mexicain sur l&#8217;activit\u00e9 physique chez les enfants et les jeunes (depuis 2018), une initiative align\u00e9e sur l&#8217;initiative mondiale Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance (Ottawa, Canada). Cette initiative g\u00e9n\u00e8re des \u00e9valuations fond\u00e9es sur des donn\u00e9es probantes de l&#8217;activit\u00e9 physique et du comportement s\u00e9dentaire chez les enfants et les jeunes mexicains, qui servent de base aux politiques et programmes nationaux. Elle participe \u00e9galement activement \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9laboration de lignes directrices nationales sur l&#8217;activit\u00e9 physique, le comportement s\u00e9dentaire et le sommeil, et a contribu\u00e9 aux fondements techniques du Plan national d&#8217;acc\u00e9l\u00e9ration pour enrayer l&#8217;ob\u00e9sit\u00e9 (2025-2030) du Mexique, en particulier dans les domaines li\u00e9s \u00e0 l&#8217;environnement scolaire et aux politiques \u00e9ducatives favorisant la sant\u00e9.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Selected Research Examples<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Gabriela\u2019s research is directly aligned with the Chair\u2019s objectives. In 2025, she led a multi-method study titled \u201cI simply have to accompany my parents to sell, nothing else!\u201d published in the International Journal of Behavioural Nutrition and Physical Activity. The study explored barriers and facilitators to extracurricular physical activity among Mexican schoolchildren, emphasizing the role of family obligations, gender norms, and urban insecurity\u2014key elements for designing context-sensitive interventions in school and community settings. She also contributed to the SUNRISE pilot study in Mexico, which physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and sleep among preschool children. This research is part of a global initiative that supports integrated behavioural health monitoring and provides data critical for shaping national guidelines and early childhood interventions. To ensure that research translates into practice, Gabriela engages in science communication through platforms such as Springer Nature Communities, where she has authored \u201cBehind the Paper\u201d reflections that highlight the real-world implications of her studies and contribute to public dialogue on health equity and childhood well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Exemples de recherches s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9es<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Les recherches de Gabriela sont en parfaite ad\u00e9quation avec les objectifs de la chaire. En 2025, elle a dirig\u00e9 une \u00e9tude multim\u00e9thodologique intitul\u00e9e \u00ab Je dois simplement accompagner mes parents pour vendre, rien d&#8217;autre ! \u00bb, publi\u00e9e dans l&#8217;International Journal of Behavioural Nutrition and Physical Activity. Cette \u00e9tude explorait les obstacles et les facteurs facilitant l&#8217;activit\u00e9 physique extrascolaire chez les \u00e9coliers mexicains, en mettant l&#8217;accent sur le r\u00f4le des obligations familiales, des normes de genre et de l&#8217;ins\u00e9curit\u00e9 urbaine, \u00e9l\u00e9ments cl\u00e9s pour concevoir des interventions adapt\u00e9es au contexte dans les milieux scolaires et communautaires. Elle a \u00e9galement contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9tude pilote SUNRISE au Mexique, qui portait sur l&#8217;activit\u00e9 physique, le comportement s\u00e9dentaire et le sommeil chez les enfants d&#8217;\u00e2ge pr\u00e9scolaire. Cette recherche s&#8217;inscrit dans le cadre d&#8217;une initiative mondiale qui soutient la surveillance int\u00e9gr\u00e9e de la sant\u00e9 comportementale et fournit des donn\u00e9es essentielles \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9laboration de lignes directrices nationales et d&#8217;interventions aupr\u00e8s de la petite enfance. Afin de garantir que la recherche se traduise dans la pratique, Gabriela s&#8217;engage dans la communication scientifique par le biais de plateformes telles que Springer Nature Communities, o\u00f9 elle a r\u00e9dig\u00e9 des r\u00e9flexions intitul\u00e9es \u00ab Behind the Paper \u00bb qui mettent en \u00e9vidence les implications concr\u00e8tes de ses \u00e9tudes et contribuent au dialogue public sur l&#8217;\u00e9quit\u00e9 en mati\u00e8re de sant\u00e9 et le bien-\u00eatre des enfants.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Building Collaborative Networks<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>In line with the Chair\u2019s emphasis on partnership and capacity building, Gabriela is member of the International Society for Physical Activity (ISPAH), and Health and the International Society of Behavioural Nutrition and Physical Activity (ISBNPA). She is actively involved in founding the Mexican Research Network on Physical Activity, Sleep, and Sedentary Behaviour (REMIASS for its abbreviation in Spanish)). The network brings together researchers, educators, and policymakers to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and promote integrated approaches to health promotion across sectors. Through these initiatives, Gabriela contributes to national and regional progress on key issues such as childhood obesity, health education, and movement behaviours. Her work supports the UNESCO Chair\u2019s global mission by connecting national experience with international dialogue and advancing inclusive, equitable, and sustainable health and education systems.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Construire des r\u00e9seaux collaboratifs<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Conform\u00e9ment \u00e0 l&#8217;importance accord\u00e9e par la pr\u00e9sidence au partenariat et au renforcement des capacit\u00e9s, Gabriela est membre de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 internationale pour l&#8217;activit\u00e9 physique (ISPAH) et la sant\u00e9 et de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 internationale pour la nutrition comportementale et l&#8217;activit\u00e9 physique (ISBNPA). Elle participe activement \u00e0 la cr\u00e9ation du R\u00e9seau mexicain de recherche sur l&#8217;activit\u00e9 physique, le sommeil et le comportement s\u00e9dentaire (REMIASS, selon son acronyme en espagnol). Ce r\u00e9seau rassemble des chercheurs, des \u00e9ducateurs et des d\u00e9cideurs politiques afin de renforcer la collaboration interdisciplinaire et promouvoir des approches int\u00e9gr\u00e9es de la promotion de la sant\u00e9 dans tous les secteurs. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ces initiatives, Gabriela contribue aux progr\u00e8s nationaux et r\u00e9gionaux sur des questions cl\u00e9s telles que l&#8217;ob\u00e9sit\u00e9 infantile, l&#8217;\u00e9ducation \u00e0 la sant\u00e9 et les comportements li\u00e9s \u00e0 l&#8217;activit\u00e9 physique.
