National and Territorial Representatives play a key role in the UNESCO Chair community by acting as the link between the global level and the country, territorial and regional level. They ensure the implementation and development of the different activities of the Chair at the country, territorial and regional level, facilitate exchange between the different partners of the Chair and provide the Chair with relevant input for its activities. National and Territorial representatives receive technical, scientific and political support of the UNESCO Chair secretariat and are appointed for a period of four years. The roles, tasks and responsibilities of a National and Territorial Representative are described in the Terms of Reference for National and Territorial Representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raul is a pediatrician with a master\u2019s degree in epidemiology from the University of Madison, WI, US. He was coordinator of the Maternal and Child Program of the Ministry of Health of the Province of Buenos Aires and at the national level. He currently coordinates the Program of Social Sciences and Health at FLACSO (Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences). He was a member of the Lancet-WHO-UNICEF Commission for the report \u2018A future for the world\u2019s children?\u2019. Member of the CAP-2030 (Children in All Policies) initiative (www.cap-2030.org). He participates in the ALAPE Social Pediatrics Committee and the International Society of Social Pediatrics (ISSOP) (www.issop.org). At FLACSO he develops activities related to health promotion, child rights and health, gender and childhood, life course approach, early childhood development, and comprehensive sexual education. Recently, we addressed the commercial determinants of health and the consequences of harmful marketing products for the health of children and adolescents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an active member of REFIPS, his mission is to empower vulnerable communities to take control in the fight against preventable diseases, cases of gender-based violence, and food insecurity that disproportionately affect them. As President and Executive Coordinator of the Health Access Initiative (HAI) in Benin, he leads high-impact projects and programmes aimed at reducing health inequalities and addressing the social determinants of health. As a consultant and coordinator of public health and \u2018Justice-Poverty\u2019 research projects in West Africa at Justice & Empowerment Initiatives (JEI), he has developed expertise in participatory action research. With over 8 years of professional experience, he has successfully led initiatives to strengthen health systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PhD Rodrigo Y\u00e1\u00f1ez Sep\u00falveda conducts research and leads research and innovation projects within international knowledge networks in the fields of global health and education. He holds a postdoctoral qualification and a PhD in Applied Physiology and is also a data science engineer. He is one of the leading scientists in his field, with over 300 scientific publications indexed in the JCR and numerous international awards. He plays a role of significant global impact in various multicentre projects on physical activity and health in children and adolescents, serving on their international technical committees. He is also a scientific ambassador for the Chilean government. In the academic sphere, he is a researcher at Andr\u00e9s Bello University and a member of its doctoral teaching staff. He is a full member of SIGMA Xi and sits on the editorial boards of prestigious scientific publishers. Furthermore, he volunteers with various humanitarian aid organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is the coordinator of the health education emphasis in the Master’s in Public Health programme. He has taught undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the Faculty and other universities in the country on the following topics: epistemology, qualitative research, ethics and social justice, public health, health promotion, and health education. I am Guest Professor and Head of the Center for Applied Sciences of Health (CASH). I have been working for 43 years at various universities in Germany, mainly in the field of educational psychology in teacher training, and I carry out externally funded school projects that are supported by foundations, ministries or health insurance and accident insurance companies.
The focus of my work is educational psychology, family psychology, health psychology, – education, -counseling and -promotion. The central question for me is how health, especially mental health, can be used as a transformative resource to promote the quality of education and training in the various educational, socio-educational and social work fields (especially family, kindergarten, school, university and local authorities). School health promotion is then about how health can be used to promote the quality of the school in the sense of a \u201cgood school\u201d: \u201cDeveloping good schools with health\u201d is the slogan of this approach. Together with other colleagues, I have developed and tested the idea and concept of the \u201cgood healthy school\u201d in a nationwide project funded by the Bertelsmann Foundation. In various other nationwide whole school projects, I continue to pursue this approach, e.g. \u201cMindMatters – Promotion of Education with mental health\u201d and \u201cGood Healthy School Initiative\u201d. I am also the German representative in the \u201cSchools for Health in Europe (SHE)\u201d network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le coeur de mon travail porte sur la psychologie de l’\u00e9ducation, la psychologie familiale, la psychologie de la sant\u00e9, l’\u00e9ducation, le conseil et la promotion de la sant\u00e9. La question centrale pour moi est de savoir comment la sant\u00e9, en particulier la sant\u00e9 mentale, peut \u00eatre utilis\u00e9e comme une ressource transformative pour promouvoir la qualit\u00e9 de l’\u00e9ducation et de la formation dans les diff\u00e9rents domaines \u00e9ducatifs, socio-\u00e9ducatifs et sociaux (en particulier la famille, la maternelle, l’\u00e9cole, l’universit\u00e9 et les autorit\u00e9s locales). La promotion de la sant\u00e9 \u00e0 l’\u00e9cole consiste alors \u00e0 d\u00e9terminer comment la sant\u00e9 peut \u00eatre utilis\u00e9e pour promouvoir la qualit\u00e9 de l’\u00e9cole au sens d’une \u00ab bonne \u00e9cole \u00bb : \u00ab D\u00e9velopper de bonnes \u00e9coles gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la sant\u00e9 \u00bb est le slogan de cette approche. En collaboration avec d’autres coll\u00e8gues, j’ai d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 et test\u00e9 l’id\u00e9e et le concept de \u00ab <\/em>l’\u00e9cole bonne et en sant\u00e9 \u00bb dans le cadre d’un projet national financ\u00e9 par la Fondation Bertelsmann. Dans divers autres projets scolaires nationaux, je continue \u00e0 poursuivre cette approche, par exemple \u00ab MindMatters – Promotion de l’\u00e9ducation avec la sant\u00e9 mentale \u00bb et \u00ab Initiative pour une bonne \u00e9cole saine \u00bb.
