ENHPS contributes to implementing the WHO\/UNICEF\u00a0Strategy for Child and Adolescent Health and Well-being\u00a0in the WHO European Region,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/europe\/teams\/policy-and-governance-for-health-through-the-life-course\/child-and-adolescent-health-and-well-being-strategy--2026-2030\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A healthy start for a healthy life\u00a0(2026\u20132030)<\/a>, by fostering collaboration, sharing\u00a0knowledge\u00a0and supporting national implementation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"339\" data-src=\"https:\/\/unescochair-ghe.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/enhps-logo_final-1024x339.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11084 lazyload\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/unescochair-ghe.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/enhps-logo_final-1024x339.png 1024w, https:\/\/unescochair-ghe.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/enhps-logo_final-300x99.png 300w, https:\/\/unescochair-ghe.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/enhps-logo_final-768x254.png 768w, https:\/\/unescochair-ghe.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/enhps-logo_final-18x6.png 18w, https:\/\/unescochair-ghe.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/enhps-logo_final-494x164.png 494w, https:\/\/unescochair-ghe.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/enhps-logo_final.png 1361w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1024px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1024\/339;\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The renewed ENHPS was officially launched in February 2026, with National Focal Points from across the WHO European Region committing to strengthen cooperation and advance the health-promoting\u00a0schools\u00a0agenda.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ENHPS Governance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Secretariat<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the network&#8217;s transitional phase, the ENHPS Secretariat is hosted by WHO\/Europe,&nbsp;supported by&nbsp;EuroHealthNet&nbsp;and the&nbsp;WHO Collaborating Centre&nbsp;on Global&nbsp;Health&nbsp;and&nbsp;Education&nbsp;(hosted by the&nbsp;University of Clermont Auvergne),&nbsp;which&nbsp;also serves&nbsp;as&nbsp;the UNESCO Chair Global Health&nbsp;and&nbsp;Education.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Secretariat provides organisational and logistical support while the network establishes its long-term governance. Its core responsibilities include:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>coordinating the network&#8217;s daily operations;\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>organising\u00a0meetings for National Focal Points and the expert group;\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>liaising with the Health Promoting School Research Group\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>facilitating technical exchanges and webinars;\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>developing the network&#8217;s communications, including newsletters;\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>identifying\u00a0funding opportunities to strengthen health-promoting schools across Europe.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">National Focal Points<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">National Focal Points are&nbsp;designated&nbsp;by Ministries of Health and\/or Ministries of Education across the WHO European Region.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They provide political leadership and coordinate implementation of the health-promoting schools approach at national level by:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>supporting national implementation of the WHO\/UNICEF Strategy for\u00a0Child and Adolescent Health\u00a0and Well-being;\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>strengthening collaboration between health and education sectors;\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>participating in annual meetings of the network, hosted by\u00a0a WHO Member State on a rotational basis;\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>sharing\u00a0national experiences,\u00a0priorities\u00a0and good practices.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A list of\u00a0National\u00a0Focal\u00a0Points can be found\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.who.int\/media\/docs\/librariesprovider2\/euro-health-topics\/child-health\/european-network-for-health-promoting-schools-(enhps)---focal-points.pdf?sfvrsn=d5bdd6a5_3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A long-standing commitment to health-promoting schools<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The health-promoting schools movement began in the late 1980s following the adoption of the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion. In 1992, the European Network of Health-Promoting Schools was&nbsp;established&nbsp;through a partnership between&nbsp;WHO, the Council of&nbsp;Europe&nbsp;and the European Commission.&nbsp;Over the following decades, the network became a major driver of school health initiatives throughout the WHO European Region. Coordinated by\u00a0EuroHealthNet\u00a0and delivered through a consortium of European\u00a0health and education\u00a0partners,\u00a0the project supported\u00a0renewed momentum for health-promoting schools\u00a0through\u00a0policy advocacy,\u00a0best practice\u00a0implementation\u00a0and\u00a0knowledge exchange.
