SUMMARY:11th IUHPE European Conference on Health promotion - UNESCO Chair speaking
DESCRIPTION:The theme of the 11th IUHPE European Conference on Health Promotion\, taking place from 14 to 16 June 2021\, is “Health Promotion: Transformative action in  a changing Europe”. The event aims to put the spotlight on the health promotion work carried out by various institutions and organisations across Europe\, and to promote networking and the exchange of ideas. \n  \nThe overall theme will be developed in three plenary sessions with high level keynotes or roundtable discussions: \n\nThe first Recognizing Health Promotion’s contribution in a changing Europe will reflect on what health promotion as a transdisciplinary field of professional practice has contributed to shaping public health in a changing Europe.\nThe second keynote session\, Reinforcing Health Promotion’s capacity to address change in Europe will focus on the professional competencies and organisational capacities that are required for health promotion to live up to the challenge of shaping public health in Europe.\nThe third session\, Rethinking Health Promotion to better address change in Europe\, will take a critical look at the points where health promotion needs to be strengthened so as to cope with the challenges of societal and health changes in Europe.\n\n  \nThe UNESCO Chair Global Health & Education is involved in the following events: \nTuesday 15 June 2021\, 11.30-13.00 – Workshop 6: Principles for health promotion and health literacy in schools as foundations for solidarity and public health \nWednesday 16 June 2021\, 9.00-10.00 – Plenary session \, Reinforcing Health Promotion’s capacity to address change in Europe \nSpeakers: \n\nCaroline Costongs\, EuroHealthNet\nDidier Jourdan\, UNESCO Chair and Head of the WHO Collaborating Center “Global Health & Education”\n\nWednesday 16 June 2021\, 16.00-17.00 – Celebrating 70 years of IUHPE’s role in advancing global health promotion \n\nPanellist – Didier Jourdan\, UNESCO Chair and Head of the WHO Collaborating Center “Global Health & Education”

SUMMARY:Making every school a health-promoting school
DESCRIPTION:Virtual meeting organised by WHO and UNESCO\nThe health\, well-being and education of children and young people are closely intertwined. With a vision that every school around the world becomes a Health-Promoting School (HPS)\, UNESCO and the World Health Organization (WHO) have developed a joint initiative to support Member States strengthen the health promoting function of education systems. \nThis global launch will feature the introduction of the initiative and present a newly-developed guidance package consisting of four publications: \n\nGlobal standards and indicators for health-promoting schools and systems;\nImplementation guidance;\nCountry case studies; and\nGuideline for school health services.\n\nGlobal and country-level stakeholders\, including representatives from government and school communities will present their perspectives and experiences in implementing school health and health-promoting school approaches. \nThe event will be available in English\, French\, Arabic and Spanish. \nAgenda\n\nStatements by the Directors General of WHO and UNESCO (TBC)\nPresentation: Towards global standards for health-promoting schools for all\nRoundtable 1: Voices from the school community\nRoundtable 2: Perspectives of national policymakers\nRoundtable 3: Perspectives of development partners\nConclusion and closing remarks\n\nFor more information contact: healthpromotion@who.int \nTo register: https://who.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_2tS0XUbFSra_2-YOJBWNQg
