SUMMARY:Lifelong learning for health webinar 3/3 – Sustainable policy implementation and visibility
DESCRIPTION:The UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) and the UNESCO Chair Global Health and Education (GHE) will co-host this webinar as part of a series aimed at developing a roadmap for the enactment of the Yeonsu Declaration for Learning Cities\, adopted at the fifth International Conference on Learning Cities (ICLC 5) in October 2021. The webinar will take place on 16 November 2022\, from 13.00 – 14.30 CEST. \n\n\n\nThe third and final of a three-part webinar series entitled ‘Lifelong learning for health: Enacting the Yeonsu Declaration for Learning Cities’\, it will focus on sustainable policy implementation strategies that involve all stakeholders within and beyond the education and health sectors. The importance of the local community’s participation – and the participation of vulnerable groups in particular – in policy development will also be addressed. There will also be a discussion on mechanisms for monitoring and evaluation and the enhancement of lifelong learning for health (LLLH) policy visibility.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMore specifically\, the following thematic focuses will be on the agenda:  \n\n\n\nThematic Focus 1: Involving stakeholders within and outside of the health sector and coordinating their efforts during LLLH policy implementation;  Thematic Focus 2: Ensuring the local community’s participation in LLLH policy implementation\, with a focus on vulnerable groups; Thematic Focus 3: Strengthening the monitoring and evaluation of LLLH and enhancing policy visibility. \n\n\n\nThe webinar will be held in English\, French\, and Spanish. \n\n\n\nFor more information and registration. \n\n\n\nAbout the webinar series \n\n\n\nThis three-part webinar series will result in a final co-created roadmap for the enactment of the Yeonsu Declaration for Learning Cities. UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC) members will work towards the development of LLLH policies\, inventories of initiatives and step-by-step action plans to build a health learning pathway for all. For cities and partners beyond the UNESCO GNLC\, the webinars are an opportunity to join a rich exchange on LLLH policy development and initiatives and explore the diverse learning city development processes of UNESCO GNLC members. This could serve as a starting point for further involvement and\, in some cases\, future membership in the network.

SUMMARY:Webinar: Décolonisation des savoirs\, un impératif de justice sociale
DESCRIPTION:Decolonisation of knowledge\, an imperative of social justice\n\n\n\nA webinar organised in partnership with REFIPS\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSummary\n\n\n\nThe primary objective of this webinar in French is to critically reflect on the hierarchy of knowledge that has continued to prevail in health promotion despite the increasing number of voices calling for a paradigm shift in this regard. Decolonising health promotion knowledge and practice is a social justice imperative\, as it involves highlighting the political and social mechanisms that contribute to the spread and growth of global health inequalities. \n\n\n\nThis webinar explores avenues for an integrative and plural co-production of knowledge and practice\, supported by rigorous and effective public policies. We will approach the issue by examining two spheres of activity: research and expertise. Knowledge-based (epistemic) dominance in academic research is primarily a systemic issue\, as it is most often directly related to funding sources. Similarly\, the tendency to favour external expertise to the detriment of local expertise in the South or fragile communities in the North is part of a restrictive and relatively inefficient hierarchical dynamic. In both cases\, critical and prospective reflection is required. \n\n\n\nBased on a series of four case studies\, we propose to reflect on the guidelines that need to be established in order to promote fair and fruitful collaborations between researchers\, decision-makers and field actors: \n\n\n\nCo-production of knowledge\, women’s health and feminism: presentation of a case study in SenegalIntersectoral collaboration between health and education through a health promotion scheme in schools and its implementation in different communities in New CaledoniaDecolonising approaches and practices in health promotion in QuebecThe local dialogue workshop: a method for decolonising knowledge in mother and child health promotion in Haiti.\n\n\n\nThe presentations will be followed by a discussion initiated by the moderator and open to all participants. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSpeakers\n\n\n\nThe webinar will feature a rich panel of 6 speakers and a moderator. \n\n\n\nMélanie Boivin\, Executive Director of the Centre d’amitié autochtone du Lac-Saint-Jean\, Québec.Obrillant Damus\, Professor at the State Universities of Haiti (Institut Supérieur d’Études et de Recherches en Sciences Sociales) and Quisqueya (Faculty of Education)\, Associate Professor at the University of Sherbrooke (Centre d’études du religieux contemporain\, Faculty of Law)\, Quebec.
