DESCRIPTION:Decolonisation of knowledge\, an imperative of social justice\n\n\n\nA webinar organised in partnership with REFIPS\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSummary\n\n\n\nThe primary objective of this webinar in French is to critically reflect on the hierarchy of knowledge that has continued to prevail in health promotion despite the increasing number of voices calling for a paradigm shift in this regard. Decolonising health promotion knowledge and practice is a social justice imperative\, as it involves highlighting the political and social mechanisms that contribute to the spread and growth of global health inequalities. \n\n\n\nThis webinar explores avenues for an integrative and plural co-production of knowledge and practice\, supported by rigorous and effective public policies. We will approach the issue by examining two spheres of activity: research and expertise. Knowledge-based (epistemic) dominance in academic research is primarily a systemic issue\, as it is most often directly related to funding sources. Similarly\, the tendency to favour external expertise to the detriment of local expertise in the South or fragile communities in the North is part of a restrictive and relatively inefficient hierarchical dynamic. In both cases\, critical and prospective reflection is required. \n\n\n\nBased on a series of four case studies\, we propose to reflect on the guidelines that need to be established in order to promote fair and fruitful collaborations between researchers\, decision-makers and field actors: \n\n\n\nCo-production of knowledge\, women’s health and feminism: presentation of a case study in SenegalIntersectoral collaboration between health and education through a health promotion scheme in schools and its implementation in different communities in New CaledoniaDecolonising approaches and practices in health promotion in QuebecThe local dialogue workshop: a method for decolonising knowledge in mother and child health promotion in Haiti.\n\n\n\nThe presentations will be followed by a discussion initiated by the moderator and open to all participants. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSpeakers\n\n\n\nThe webinar will feature a rich panel of 6 speakers and a moderator. \n\n\n\nMélanie Boivin\, Executive Director of the Centre d’amitié autochtone du Lac-Saint-Jean\, Québec.Obrillant Damus\, Professor at the State Universities of Haiti (Institut Supérieur d’Études et de Recherches en Sciences Sociales) and Quisqueya (Faculty of Education)\, Associate Professor at the University of Sherbrooke (Centre d’études du religieux contemporain\, Faculty of Law)\, Quebec. SUMMARY:Webinar Transitioning to a sustainable food system and delivering on the SDGs - The potential of school meals
DESCRIPTION:EURAGRI and CIRAD invite you to join the online webinar “Transitioning to a sustainable food system and delivering on the SDGs – The potential of school meals” on 21 March 2022 from 14.00 – 16.30 CET. \n\n\n\nThe first United Nations Summit on Food Systems (UNFSS) took place in 2021. It addresses food security and food systems’ sustainability and their contribution to achieve the SDG’s. These issues are widely recognised to be among the most significant challenges humanity is facing today together with associated issues such as climate change and biodiversity loss. \n\n\n\nMany people lack access to sufficient\, safe\, and nutritious food. Furthermore\, food has enormous social\, cultural and political significance influencing how policies are formulated and how pathways to a more just and sustainable food system are identified. \n\n\n\nIn preparation of and during the summit\, actors at many levels\, government representatives\, civil society\, the research community\, and the private sector\, engaged in discussions which resulted in several coalitions. Among them the “School Meals Coalition: Nutrition\, Health and Education for Every Child” was established\, and actively supported by most states. It is accompanied by a Global Research Consortium for School Health and Nutrition led by Professor Donald Bundy (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine). \n\n\n\nThis coalition approach is of great interest to develop best practices concerning transformational research and systematic evaluation of the impact of interventions to achieve transformation. \n\n\n\nDownload the programme here
