The UNESCO Chair Global Health & Education aims to promote research and training, to contribute to building, interpreting and disseminating the knowledge base in the field of health promotion, including health education, in schools and communities for children and young people.
Together, health and education are key components of sustainable development. Among the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) the Chair contributes to building and interpreting the evidence base for SDG 3 (Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages) and SDG 4 (Ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning).
The Chair connects all kinds of actors, such as UN agencies (including UNESCO and WHO), UN member states, academia, educational institutes, NGOs, companies and local communities. The main activity of the Chair is community building, by stimulating innovative projects, actor management and fundraising. The key word is alliance.
